The Pau Casals UNESCO Chair opens its third call for research grants with the aim of promoting research on the musical and humanitarian legacy of Pau Casals. Interested parties may submit their applications until April 3, 2025 (by 11:59 PM).
Research grants with a financial allocation of €2,000
Each grant provides a financial allocation of €2,000, as well as support and guidance from a commission of experts. Beneficiaries will also have access to the Pau Casals Fund, stored at the National Archive of Catalonia, among other resources linked to the Chair.
Research projects can focus on the figure and musical or humanitarian legacy of Casals, but they are also open to other themes such as human rights, the culture of peace, international justice, and the role of music in social cohesion and conflict prevention. This call is in line with the values that Pau Casals defended throughout his life, in accordance with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Open call for students and researchers worldwide
The grants are open to students and researchers worldwide. Research projects related to undergraduate, master’s, or postgraduate theses, doctoral research, or any investigation related to the objectives of this call can be submitted.

About the Pau Casals UNESCO Chair
The Pau Casals UNESCO Chair is an initiative created in 2022 in partnership between the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the Pau Casals Foundation, with the aim of promoting research and dissemination of Pau Casals’ legacy and the values he defended throughout his life. The Chair fosters the commitment of music and culture to the major social challenges of today, supporting research on the role of music in intercultural dialogue, and the defense of human rights and multilateralism.
