The Pau Casals Museum is located opposite the Sant Salvador beach, in the municipality of El Vendrell, in a setting where the sea and the vineyards coexist with a wealth of culture and heritage.
In El Vendrell there are a large number of museums linked to prominent figures and artists, such as Pablo Casals’ Casa Nadiua, the Angel Guimerà House Museum, located in the ancestral home of the Guimerà family; the Deu Museum, one of the most important private art collections in Catalonia; and the Apel·les Fenosa Foundation, located in the Portal del Pardo, a 16th century building that was the summer residence and workshop of the sculptor.
In Sant Salvador, just in front of the Pau Casals Museum, there is the Pablo Casals Auditorium, which hosts concerts throughout the year, including the Pablo Casals International Music Festival.
In El Vendrell there are two DO Penedès wineries that we recommend for their quality and proximity to the Pau Casals Museum. The Jané Ventura, winery, a family winery that since 1914 has been making signature wines and cavas that express the essence of the Baix Penedès, and the Avgvstvs Forvm, winery, a small family winery that produces quality wines and gourmet bittersweet vinegars (present on the menu at the Nobel Prize gala and in Michelin-starred restaurants).
The DO Penedès extends over a large strip of land between the sea and the mountains, halfway between Barcelona and Tarragona. The DO is made up of three distinct areas: Maritime Penedès (Baix Penedès and Garraf), Upper Penedès (Alt Penedès, Alt Camp, Anoia and Baix Llobregat) and Central Penedès (essentially, Alt Penedès).
El Vendrell is part of the Xató Route, a gastronomic tourism project in the Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès and Garraf regions. “Fer la Ruta” means getting to know the xató territory by visiting some of the tours offered by the themed getaways of the Xató Route, which allow you to discover all that the territory has to offer.
In Baix Penedès you can find the Col·lectiu Terra i Taula, a union made up of farmers and chefs who work in the search for the highest quality in the products, dishes and services they offer.
One of the main attractions of the municipality of El Vendrell are the beaches of the seaside neighbourhoods of Sant Salvador, Coma-ruga and El Francàs. In addition to the tranquillity, transparency and pleasant temperature of the sea, the waters of this corner of the Costa Daurada contain a high percentage of iodine, which makes them particularly healthy. Since 1988 the coast of El Vendrell has been awarded the Blue Flag and is considered one of the best in Catalonia.
