Pupils of El Vendrell Celebrate the School Day for Non-Violence and Peace at the  Vil·la Casals At the proposal of UNESCO, coinciding with the anniversary of the death of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948, 30th January has become the School Day for Non-Violence and Peace.

For this reason, for the third consecutive year, the Pau Casals Foundation, with the collaboration of the Town Council of El Vendrell and the Pau Casals Learning Camp, has invited the pupils of the 5th form of the primary schools of El Vendrell to share this occasion at the Vil·la Casals-Pau Casals Museum and the Pau Casals Auditorium.

A total of 358 children from eight schools of El Vendrell will take part in this event. They have worked at school on the values of peace during the month of January, studying the life of Pau Casals and other figures such as Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi. The programme will include diverse activities, such as cooperative games and the exchange of projects carried out in class, which will be presented at the Pau Casals Auditorium.

In the closing ceremony, the participants will give a joint performance of the “Song of Peace”, with music and lyrics by the Learning Camp’s director, David Melgar.
